About the Section

A Strong Foundation for Life

The Primary Section at Vidya Niketan (Classes I–V) is designed to cultivate intellectual curiosity, emotional intelligence, and a genuine love for learning. Following the CISCE framework, our primary curriculum blends structured academic learning with hands-on activities, creative exploration, and values education.

We believe the primary years are the most critical in a child's educational journey. Our approach goes beyond textbooks — encouraging children to question, discover, and express themselves with confidence. Small class sizes ensure every child receives individual attention and care.

Our experienced faculty use a blend of traditional and modern teaching methods including story-based learning, project work, oral presentations, and experiential activities — making every lesson memorable and meaningful.

English Language & Literature

Strong foundation in reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, and oral communication. Story-based and phonics-integrated approach in early years.

Reading Writing Grammar Oral Skills

Mathematics

Conceptual understanding through concrete-to-abstract progression. Number sense, arithmetic, geometry, measurement, and data handling — all with real-life connections.

Arithmetic Geometry Measurement Mental Maths

Environmental Studies (EVS)

Integrated Science and Social Studies in early classes (I–III), progressing to separate Science and Geography/History from Class IV onwards.

Nature Science Geography History

Hindi / Second Language

Structured learning of Hindi as the second language covering reading, writing, comprehension, and basic grammar in a communicative and engaging manner.

Reading Writing Grammar

Computer Studies

Age-appropriate introduction to computers including basic operations, MS Office applications, internet safety, and introductory programming concepts from Class III.

Learning is most effective when it is enjoyable. We use games, songs, storytelling, role-play, and project-based activities to make every concept come alive in the classroom.

Individualised Attention

Our teachers maintain small, manageable class sizes and regularly monitor each child's progress. Remedial support and enrichment activities are offered based on individual needs.

Parent–Teacher Partnership

We maintain regular communication with parents through PTMs, progress reports, and a dedicated diary system. Parents are active partners in their child's growth at Vidya Niketan.

Assessment Beyond Exams

Continuous and comprehensive evaluation — including oral tests, project work, class participation, and written assessments — ensures a holistic picture of every child's development.

Preparing for Middle School

By Class V, students are systematically prepared for the transition to Middle School — with stronger note-taking skills, independent reading habits, and greater academic self-discipline.
